In the meantime, please enjoy the music video and share it with your friends. I am looking forward to releasing more songs in the near future.

New Album Update
I have been recording music for a new album of solo material using the facilities of my home studio. So far the results have been pleasing with five songs already recorded and more on their way. It has been enjoyable recording over the summer break and I hope to have something available for general release soon.
Studio Sofa Moves
During the summer break I have had a chance to clean out the home studio and move the sofa into a new position designed to offer more comfort. As soon as my finger has recovered from an injury I will be recording some new videos using the new sofa position. Meanwhile my facebook page where I share daily links to recommended guitar related websites has been gradually increasing its followers. To see what it's all about please visit www.facebook.com/dansandmanmusic and take a look at the various links to guitar lessons I put up on a (more or less) daily basis.
Classical Guitar Website
I found this English 16th Century lute piece thanks to http://www.classclef.com - a fantastic website offering free classical guitar sheet music. The site includes hundreds of free downloadable PDFs, Guitar Pro Files and Midi.
Summer Break
As the summer break approaches I wish all my students a happy and fulfilling practice period away from lessons.
Grade Exams Tomorrow
Goodluck to those of my students who are taking grade exams tomorrow.
Rosaleda - Spanish Guitar Piece
My latest video for my students to use as a guide is of a Spanish guitar piece called Rosaleda which literately translates into The Rose Garden.
My pages for Guitar Lovers
People who either love to play guitar or enjoy listening to the music that the instrument produces might be interested to know that I have a page dedicated to the instrument. The page can be found at www.facebook.com/dansandmanmusic and is daily updated with links to videos I like on youtube. Alternatively, if you'd like to subscribe direct to my youtube channel the web address is www.youtube.com/dansandmanmusic.
Spring - Acoustic Guitar Arrangement
This week's video is my arrangement of Vivaldi's Spring with three simple bass notes added to add harmony to the famous melody.
Album Review - R2 (Rock n, Reel) Magazine
R2 (Rock n, Reel) magazine have reviewed my third album When April Comes. The short review appears on page 114, ISSUE 27 (May/June 2011) and reads as follows.
"DAN SANDMAN is a guitar tutor who writes songs and makes albums in his bedroom. When April Comes is his third and is rather good in a gentle, unassuming way. Very little information is supplied but it seems he does everything himself including taking the photographs."
The next review will appear soon in ISSUE 54 (June 2011) of Acoustic Magazine.
Seventh Chords
Here's my arrangement of Hey Jude by The Beatles to introduce seventh chords to the beginner's vocabulary. As mentioned previously I have copies of the sheet music to go with the video which are available freely by request.
Some New Videos
I'm teaching a number of beginner's their first chords A, D & E so I made a video to help them learn. The songs are both covered in The Complete Guitar Player by Russ Shipton and my slightly different versions are available by request (just send me an email). Well here is one to enjoy; the other is on it's way soon!
Youtube Video Playlist - Welcome To My Music
Following the recording of two new videos I thought I'd make a 'Welcome To My Music' playlist.
Spagnoletta Youtube Video
In my mission to video more performances of guitar pieces that I teach, here is the first video of me playing an acoustic guitar version of a classical guitar piece. Enjoy this one and I'll keep the site updated when more vids are up on youtube.
Grade Exam Results Received
I am pleased to announce that everyone who entered the Spring Term grade exams has passed without exception. All certificates will be presented with a breakdown of marks received next lesson. Some of the results were outstanding with one twelve year old receiving a merit at grade 3. Outside of grade exams, there were also a number of fantastic student's recordings at the end of the Spring Term. These have mixed, mastered and sent to everyone who recorded in the home studio. In the future there will be a place on the website where everyone can hear examples of student's work.
The deadline for entrence into the Summer Term exams is May 1st 2011. If you wish to enter a further grade or take your first grade please contact me by sending an email to dsandman@dansandman.co.uk.
Thank you everyone for all your hard work, well done I am proud of all of your acheivements.

When April Comes - Concert Programme April 1st
Today work was completed on the Concert Programme for April 1st 2011.
Each 14 page programme is plastic bound and printed in high-quality. The individual cost of each programme was £5.
I could only afford to make 10 copies. Because of the rarity of this unique concert souvenir I am only able to give them away on a first come first served basis.
If you want one email me at dsandman@dansandman.co.uk
See you when April comes.

When April Comes - Download News & Concert Programme
On Friday April 1st I will be performing my lastest album When April Comes live at Camden Barfly in Chalk Farm. The single Times Are Hard has been doing well on Amazon and itunes. So far downloads for Times Are Hard have been coming in steadilly especially on Amazon with over a dozen mp3s being downloaded. The concert programme for Arpil 1st will include an indepth introduction and lyric sheets to go along with the CD album.

Facebook Like Box
I have created a Like Box in the Songs section of this website where you can like my page and therefore be regualrly updated with news on upcoming events. It is also possible for users to upload the Like Box onto their own website by going to the Like Box Page and typing in the URL http://www.facebook.com/danvsandman where prompted. The Like box is flexible, easy to use and quite a cool way of streaming news.
Home Recording Studio Ready
The dedicated music room that I use for guitar lessons has now become a fully functional recording studio that can be used to record students work. This is great news and has already begun to inspire me to make some more recordings of my own songs soon. Although I am proud of the results acheived in my small bedroom for When April Comes, the increased sapce that the new studio provides should produce a more acoustically satisfying sound.
Video Release Date Announced - Live at The Cavendish Arms
My third unplugged performance in the front room of The Cavendish Arms has been recorded using a Sony Handycam I borrowed from my brother. The video was filmed by supporter Brian Parking who has done an excellent job capturing 20 minutes of live material. All four songs (including a cover of Donovan's Colours) will be released weekly every Thesday starting from March 8th 2011.
When April Comes - Album Review
Last week I sent eight mp3 files away to online music magazine The Mag and received a mixed review for my forthcoming self-released album When April Comes. The reviewer (who's profile page reveals "Likes: Anything pink and 50's, Musicals, Cats, Marilyn Monroe, Clothes shopping and Gordon Ramsey / Hates: Snoring, People in animal costumes (especially Kangaroos), motorway driving and Tana Ramsey!") particularly liked the last track Forever and had this to say - "This is a breath-taking track and is a cracking finish." I was also delighted to have received positive criticism in regards to the vocal as I recorded it in one take with the lyrics written the night before and my dad quite literally lying bedridden "in the room next door" awaiting a heart operation. I am also gratefull to the reviewer for complementing the recording on the album's penultimate track Sweet Winter's Sun Morning which (the reviewer states) "sets a good pace and has an upbeat approach right to the end".
One of the reviews low-lights (for me personally) was the reaction to the album's intrumental The Nosebag which states "The background noise of chit chat distracts enormously from the music". If may be so bold...in reaction to the criticism (apoligies for the rant)...the purpose of the track was to make no distinction between the sound of The Nosebag (an ambient cafe in Oxford recorded on a seperate date to the guitar part) and the sound of the acoustic guitar. The objective was to focus the listener's attention towards the conversation. It is my strongly held belief that a room full of people creates a sort of music far more textured, layered and beautifull than any guitar piece. The interplay between the sounds in the room and the guitar sounds have always been crucial to my work ever since I recorded Mum and Pub with Chris Monger on the first album In Technicolour.
However, as they say, all criticism is good criticism and I look forward to hearing how the album is received in future reviews. The full album review for When April Comes is available online from today (24th of February) alongside the online magazine's review of my previous record An English Summer. I will be playing my third concept album When April Comes in it's entirety on April 1st 2011 at Camden Barfly in Chalk Farm.

The night has just started and will be going on from 9pm till late. If anyone's interested there'll be a pub quiz beforehand but the live music doesn't start till 9pm so you can come after dinner on Friday night. Check out what the night is about by visiting the facebook event page, it should be good fun.
Amazing Venue, Charming Promoter
Thanks to Helen & Henry for calling on me to perform at The Strongroom Bar & Restaurant in Shoreditch last night. It was good fun waving down a cab outside the apple store on Regent Street (I'd been listening to a talk by Simon Pegg & Nick Frost) to go and play a last minute half hour set. It turned out to be an all round top night of good affordable food (£7.50 for a steak sarnie), great live music and superb audience participation. Que slideshow...
Last Night's Gig + Barfly Gig April
Last night stroke just the right balance between intimacy and pole-dancing Kareoke. Thanks to Hot Vox promotions for putting me on in such a cool venue and special thanks to everyone who was there to support me by coming to see some free live music on a Monday. I am looking forward to playing my forthcoming album When April Comes in its entirety on April 1st at Camden Barfly. To make up for the £6 door charge I will be giving away a CD album (yes giving away for free / nada / nothing) along with a 'making of document' to whoever brings a copy of my first album to the show. To summarise, bring first album get third album - simple.
Single + Proud Camden Monday + Pictures
Special thanks to everyone who has downloaded my single Times Are Hard, the song is still on itunes and Amazon.co.uk. I am looking forward to performing at Proud Camden this coming Monday (Feb 7th). The pictures you see here were taken last Tuesday at The Railway Open Mic in Streatham Common, hope you like one or two of them.
Times Are Hard - single released today

I tested the download this morning and it works perfectly, please follow this link which leads to Amazon.co.uk http://amzn.to/eFoAHq. See you at Proud Camden on Monday February 7th for the celebration party.

www.amazon.co.uk/Times-Are-Hard/dp/B004KCPSO2

Times Are Hard is a song from my forthcoming album When April Comes available on CD April 1st 2011. The single will be only be available to download and will not be available to stream.
Proud Camden Gig
On Monday February 7th, in two weeks time, I will be performing live at Proud Galleries Camden alongside 10 live acts across 3 live rooms of live music fun. My performance is scheduled at 8:30 and will be approximately half an hour long. I will be bringing two guitars for the second time since The Bull and Gate last November and an acoustic amp with a couple of subtle effects – I only carry the extra gear if I think the gig will be worth the effort.
Entry is free (say my name at the door) and I am on first at 8:30 so arrive early 7:30 so everyone can grab a table, buy a round of drinks, relax, chill-out and settle in. The Stables Market (where Proud Camden is) can be found just off Chalk Farm road. If you're coming by tube get the Northern Line to Chalk Farm or Camden Town - it's in the middle of the two.
Single Download
To coincide with the gig at Proud Galleries Camden I will be digitally releasing a single to download. Times Are Hard is a popular live song based around a simple finger-picked riff with catchy mellow vocals. If all goes according to schedule, the single should reach stores at the start of February in time for the gig. The track will be priced at approximately 60p - about 70% of the profit will go directly to the artist (me); the remainder will be paid to the download store and the distributors. If you are interested in the details of how to release a single without a record company or would like help with your own project please email me at dsandman@dansandman.co.uk.

I took some pictures of the guitar studio today and added a written description to be read alongside the images. In addition, I have talked some more about the benefits of taking grade exams with the RGT - all can be found in the Guitar Lessons section of this site. Send all feedback to dsandman@dansandman.co.uk, would love to hear your thoughts / feelings / criticisms.
Gigs Coming In
Here are the photos from The Cavendish Arms gig, next Unplugged Front Pub appearance Thursday February 27th. Meanwhile, I'm back in South London on Tuesday 18th for a 20 minute featured slot at The Railway Streatham Common Open Mic. My next major gig is still Proud Galleries Camden February 7th.
Secret Gig
The gig is live & unplugged at The Cavendish Arms Stockwell Thursday 13th 7:30pm. I will be playing in support of the forthcoming gig at Proud Galleries Camden on February 7th. I will be giving out free copies of my début album In Technicolour along with simple, personally designed flyers.
New Studio 2011
Over the Christmas holidays I have been developing my home studio to teach, practice and record in. Now all the musical gear, educational resources and recording equipment I have collected over the years is stored in one dedicated music room. The new home studio will be completed soon ready for lessons, rehearsals and recording projects at the start of New Year 2011.
Proud Galleries Camden Gig
The next gig is at Proud Galleries on February 7th 2011 - full details are up on the Facebook Event Page where you can also RSVP your attendance.
Work Begins On Third Album
Despite there being woodcutters outside my house this morning I have begun recording my third album at my home studio in Primrose Hill. The results so far have been very pleasing and I'm looking forward to sharing the new recordings with my friends, family & supporters on April the 1st 2011.
Dan Sandman - Cavendish Arms Gig
I have created a Facebook Event Page for my next gig at The Cavendish Arms in Stockwell South London on Monday December 13th 2010. I will be performing unplugged in the front room alongside other poets, musicians and singers. All of the details (plus some useful links) are up on the Facebook Event Page.

Good Open Mic
There's a good open mic running at The Camden Head on Sunday night which I played for the first time today. Open mic nights are great places to play new songs, meet new people and see old faces. I had two halves of Guinness alongside two well written articles from the Sunday papers - the music was okay.
Photos Now Up
The pictures from The Bull and Gate taken by Stephanie Perk on November 2nd 2010 are now up on Myspace - if you missed the gig take a look at the pictures, put on some of my music and imagine what it would have been like.
Photos From November 2nd
Those who were there at The Bull and Gate gig would have noticed that there was a photography front of stage capturing the moment. Stephanie Perk is a photography student who kindly photographed the gig. I am going to put the rest of the best ones up on Myspace tomorrow morning after breakfast, before lunch.

An English Summer Released On Spotify + Lyrics
After a year of waiting spotify have finally released my second album on their website which allows people to listen to music for free. There is a useful link to my music on spotify in the top-right corner of this website where you will in addition find links to itunes ect. To celebrate this long awaited moment I have put up all of the lyrics to my second album in the songs section of this website.
Thank You
Last night's gig went very well, special thanks to everyone who came down to support me - you were great! I guess I'll be looking to book a couple more gigs in the near future, start work on recording the third album and generally continue to be absorbed in a world of music. Remember you can follow me on all the main social networking sites as well send me an email to discuss the finer points of my duck photography - here's one I made earlier!
Bull & Gate Gig News
My next gig at The Bull and Gate has a Facebook Page with links to the support acts, information on how to buy advance tickets or print flyers. The gig is a Club Fandango night and there is loads more information up on Club Fandango's Website. I must stress to you how much it means to me to have been given the opportunity to play at a music venue with a history as prestigious as The Bull and Gate. This gig will be a good opportunity to share my songs with a wider audience; I need your support on this one, it will be a huge night, please bring friends.
Extra Open Mic Announced
As they say one thing always leads to another: last night one gig led to another gig. Open mic host plus songtress Trina at The Earl Camden invited me to another one of her nights at The William Blake 174-180 Old Street on Wednesday 27th. Being someone who likes a challenge I said yes I'll be there at about 9pm after grabbing a cab from The Silver Bullet in Finsbury Park. Meanwhile I'm looking forward to the intimacy of tonight's open mic at The Green Note which is particularly nice because of the organic beers & ciders. So that's tonight at The Green Note 7:30pm and tomorrow at The Silver Bullet 7:30pm + The William Blake 9pm - open mic night adventure.
Half Term Open Mics
It's half term so I can go to the cinema during the day, see the rose gardens and (more significantly) play some open mics. On Monday I'll be playing at The Earl Of Camden on Parkway near Camden Town Tube, on Tuesday I'll be playing The Green Note also on Parkway and on Wednesday I'll be playing The Silver Bullet near Finsbury Park Tube. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - October 25th to 27th - Free Entry, 7:30pm.
Bull and Gate Gig
The next gig is on Tuesday November 2nd at The Bull and Gate with well respected independent promoters Club Fandango. It's a great venue that has seen many big names pass through its doors before they were famous. Who knows, if the gig goes down a storm I could be as big as Coldplay or Blur within a jiffy using my music to help sell mobile phones. I'm headlining too (at 10:15pm) which is rather exciting so it will be well worth coming to see the show.
If thirty people turn up I'll do the hokey-cokey in my underpants.
New Photography
Sean Lilley at Photography In Focus was kind enough to take some pictures of me performing at The Abbey Tavern on Sunday October 10th. Take a look at all 49 photos by clicking this link picasaweb.google.co.uk/109999886028423427378/DanSandman#. Sean is an independent photographer working freelance and available for photo shoots, weddings and parties.
Album News
My third album When April Comes will be out in the spring and produced by Chris Monger. To celebrate the release we are planning to record a live concert in April once I have found a suitable listening venue. I am also hoping to upload some photos from last Sunday's successful gig at The Abbey Tavern in Kentish Town. The support band The Accents played a fantastic set before me and I hope we can organise another gig together soon.
Vocal & Guitar Demos
I have chosen eight songs for my third album which has been going under the working title When April Comes for some time now. The plan is to release one version of vocal & guitar demos, one electric version and one video version. The idea came to me after listening to Richard Thompson's latest album where he generously decided to release a version with expertly performed demos.
Right now I am still not signed to a record label so will once again be releasing a small number of records for anyone who expresses an interest in my music. Today I recorded some good early demos and will arrange a meeting soon with Chris Monger to talk about our plans for recording an electric version. Albums take a long time to make so I guess we'll have it ready in the springtime - When April Comes.
Two Renaissance Guitar Videos
Everyone now and then I upload something on my video channel www.youtube.com/dansandmanmusic, the latest two pieces were written in the 16th Century. Both videos were recorded spontaneously at around four in the afternoon when the sun can be seen glinting through the window on an autumn day. I love waking up in the morning, discovering a piece of music, going out for a walk then rolling the film.
Sunday October 10th
Thanks to everyone who came to my birthday party last Sunday (September 12th) and took part in my musical quiz. Despite the controversy regarding the use of mobile phones I think everyone had an enjoyable time and played in good spirits. The Abbey Tavern have booked me again to play a short set of my own songs on Sunday October 10th. I am scheduled to play at 9:45pm and there will be a band on beforehand.
Dan Sandman's Acoustic Night
Starting this Sunday the 12th of September I will be hosting an Acoustic Night at The Abbey Tavern on Kentish Town High Road. The event is listed on the venue's website http://www.abbey-tavern.com/live-music/ where further information can be found. I will be playing new songs and songs from my covers repertoire.
New Bass Player & Gigs
Rehearsals have begun with bass player Tom Goldman who joins myself and Chris Monger in the new band. We are hoping to play together live on Sunday October 10th at The Abbey in Kentish Town. The gig is also a chance for me to play some of the new songs I will be showcasing this Saturday at The Miller in London Bridge.
Guitar Lessons
If you are looking to book guitar lessons you have come to the right place. Full details of the lessons including pricing information and testimonials are up on site.

New Website & Celebratory Party
After a month of hard work the guys at www.pomdesign.com have finished their work on my website. The new look site has lots of special features that will be added to regularly as time goes by. The first addition is this news section that will keep you weekly updated on guitar teaching, songs and live performances. Secondly, you may have noticed the links to facebook, myspace, twitter, blogger, youtube, spotify and itunes - go ahead, take a look - there's a wealth of material out there. Thirdly, this site is media friendly with lots of photos, videos and audio to keep you entertained during your stay.
I would like to thank Luke at pomdesign for all his hard putting the site together and providing helpful advise during the process. Developing a website is hard work and pomdesign have done an amazing job managing to create a design that exactly suits my needs.
To celebrate the release of the site I am playing at an Italian restaurant this Wednesday. What could be a better way to celebrate than combining two of my favourite things in one evening of live acoustic music and affordable Italian food. The venue is called The Live Lounge situated in Sopranos Restaurant, 128 Kensington High Street (three minute from the tube). I have booked a table for my family, close friends and supporters. There's going to be a celebratory atmosphere with live music carrying on till late.
